Query on facilities at Kirkudbright please . .

I'm thinking of a week's stay in Kirkcudbright in early June but am struggling to find a bit more information on what pubs/restaurants and take-aways are within the village? Also - are there plenty of things to do & see - and local walking? Any ideas/suggestions would be very welcome. Thank you - AJC

I'm assuming you have found the Undiscovered Scotland website/ If not start here with the page on Kirkcudbright

Follow the red links on the small map on the right hand side of the page to get more information of things to do and see in the area.

Kirkcudbright held a Jazz Festival in June 2009.

I don't know if it is an annual event but it might be worth emailing tourist information to ask and check on dates (either to attend or avoid...)

E-Mail: kirkcudbright@visitscotland.com

There does seem to be quite a bit happening in Kirkcudbright during the summer. They have a special web site:

but unfortunately it still shows 2009 calendar.

As the others have said, there's plenty to do in and around Kircudbright. There are lots of nice coffee shops and pubs/restaurants to eat in. The weekend of 29th-31st May is Spring Fling weekend in Dumfries & Galloway. Most of the artists and craftworkers in the district have 'doors open' weekend. It's definitely worth going to if you like that kind of thing and you're in the area at that time. There is a website but I'm at work at the moment so no time to find the link!
