Took 3 attempts before I could get a hotel in Campbeltown for this coming Thursday (25th Feb)...What on earth is taking place that's taking up all the hotel rooms???
It's just a wee place. Probably doesnt take much to fill those few hotels up. A while back there were people living in B&Bs there while working on jobs in the area.
cant say for Cambelltown specific, but Iv'e often found that accommodation in holiday areas either close for the deep winter, or are occupied with workers on building/refurbishment works done out of season. This is often good trade for the hotels, as the workers are often on a long let, which gives a reliable income at what could be a difficult time of the year.

Eventually stayed at the White Hart hotel on the Main Street wich was actually very good (have posted a separate hotel review) and would certainly stay there again. Found the town itself a bit depressing what with the big(ish) hotel opposite the harbour closed down and also the former Irish Ferry Terminal similarly closed down. Maybe it's a winter thing and I'll find a different ambience when I return in the summer.
