Driving Tour West Huighlands

We're looking to do a 6 night driving tour from oban north in Sept.We want to do some walking (but we are not motivated by peak collecting, just nice walks) so not looking to change hotel every day, perhaps a three site holiday? I've heard that Fort William is not a very nice place to stay but is close to lots of the walks we might want to do. We also want to stay in places which have good restaurants, nice food not chains, and B&B's/ hotels that are warm and have character. We're hoping to spend around £80 a night ish for accom, but might splash out for one or two nights. Can anyone suggest a driving itinerary which suggests, places we might stop?

Thanks!

We stayed at a very nice B and B, Huntingtower Lodge, just west of Fort William. From there you can easily visit Glencoe which has lots of hiking. You might also enjoy two nights on Skye (Ben Tianavaig in Portree) and two nights in the Inverness area (Tigh na Bruach in Invermorriston). We stayed in those places in June and they were all warm friendly spots full of character. Lots of places to drive and walk; plenty of nice restaurants.

In and around Port Appin is beautiful with easy walks around Appin itself, Castle Stalker and also on the Isle of Lismore (via the footpassenger ferry in Port Appin). Port Appin is 40 minutes north of Oban via the Connell Bridge. There are some good bandb's and hotels around there too.
