Will arrive at Aberdeen airport in the early afternoon after a 12 hour trip from Boston. Would like to stay an easy taxi ride from the airport and pick up a car in the morning, Car anyone suggest places to stay and where to go for the evening for ales and Aberdeen culture We will be tired. Thanks.

Jury's Inn at Union Square would be a good option - right in the heart of the city and right beside where the airport bus will drop you off. Lots of pubs/restaurants around there to choose from.

Are you looking to stay near the airport onthe first night so you can pick up a hire car next day, which pretty much means no "culture" or good ales/ company.

Or are you hoping to travel into the city centre (cheaper by bus than taxi) where yiou can head out to pubs, etc?

Assume you mean $100 for each room??? Even then, that's quite a low budget for Aberdeen. For that price, you will get a room at a Travel Inn, Holiday Inn Express, etc.

It's a great shame you are only staying in Aberdeen for one night. Lots to see and do and some great golf courses including Royal Aberdeen,The new Donald Trump Course, (Bill Clinton is coming over to play this course). Cruden Bay where Bram Stoker stayed and got his inspiration to write Dracula, see his signature in the guest book at the Kilmarnock Arms Hotel). Clinton also played this course, which is extremely popular with Americans. These are just a few of many.

Aberdeen is the Oil Capital of Europe and Hotels are not cheap, but if you book in advance to an Hotel like the Holiday Inn Express in Chapel Street, you will get it for around £29.00 per night (for two) and also get breakfast included. This Hotel is right in the town centre so handy for lots of pubs and also shops.

My advise don't rush off to Edinburgh, Skye, Inverness etc., try spend a little time in Aberdeenshire you will be surprised how good it is. As you may know our Queen has a place in Aberdeenshire called Balmoral and she and her family love spending time here.

A taxi to town centre should only take about 15 mins depending on traffic and that time of day should be ok.

Possible suggestions for an ale would be old blackfriars, ma camerons, the globe or illicit still if in town centre.

The Prince of Wales is a authentic Edwardian Pub with Pub Grub. Should fit the bill for someone looking for a tradditional pub. However, I don't think the O.P. has returned to this page as no reply to the helpful members has been posted as yet??

From the O.P.: Just now settling the Boston to Aberdeen return part of the trip. Arriving early afternoon and will be tired. It looks like an easy ride into the City. The 29# Holiday Express sounds like a great deal. Pub, grub, overnight and on to Inverness I think.

Still very much appreciate advice. Thanks.

Inverness town is not the best, it's O.K. for a hour or two to look around. There are lots of nicer and less touristy places to stay. However, have a lovely holiday and if you can please have a look around Aberdeenshire, it will surprise you. Even Billy Connolly decided to make Aberdeenshire his Scottish Home.

I think we will spend some time in Peterhead. Looking at two B&Bs: Greenridge Guest House and Crawford's Guest House. Neither show up on Tripadvisor. Does anyone know either of them ? Thanks.
