Bus from Carlisle to Stranraer

I am planning to visit Belfast after Lake District in May.

I prefer get to Belfast by ferry, and I finally find out bus X75 from Carlisle goes to Stranraer port.

But the problem is, bus X75 arrive in Stranraer at 16:26, it is too late for the ferry depart at 15:30. The next ferry is too late for me to arrive (9:45pm) in Belfast.

Would like to know, Anyone knows any other buses running from Carlisle / Dumflies to Stranraer?

Thanks!

This journey is more complicated than you think. The ferries now depart from Cairnryan - not Stranraer.

You might want to look at the SailRail ticket. You would need to catch a train to Glasgow, a connecting train to Ayr, then a connecting bus from Ayr.

It is quite a complicated journey.

The ferry doesn't run from Stranraer, it runs from Cairnryan

The easiest thing to do is to take the train to Glasgow then Citylink bus to Belfast which includes the ferry fare & journey. Cheap train tickets become available AROUND 12 weeks before date of travel

There are trains that do the trip, with a change

No other buses thoughbut there is a National Express coach in the early hours of the morning and another in the afternoon - they do run through to belfast if it helps

Why is the National Express coach through from Carlisle to Belfast unsuitable?

Unfortunately because of train/bus timings you need to take the 08:15 train from Carlisle to Dumfries then wait around for Stagecoach 500 service to Stranraer leaving at 11:40 and getting you to Stranraer at 13:55.

Probably because of the late hour at which it arrives in Belfast.

From the Lake District, it might be better to head down to Liverpool and get the ferry to Belfast from there.

????

There are two coaches a day from Glasgow to Belfast that you could catch if you caught the train from Carlisle. You could even take something like the 8:15 which takes the "scenic" route to Glasgow via Dumfries rather than the direct route.
