Inspiration required for Summer trip!

Inspiration required for Summer trip!

Hi everyone,

My fiance and I are looking to go away for 3/4 nights in the middle of July this year (yes I realise this is relatively last minute) somewhere in Scotland. We will be travelling from Glasgow. We are open-minded and would consider lodges/cabins/hotels as long as the accommodation is in a nice scenic area - somewhere relaxing!

The problem is, we won't have a car so we need a location that is scenic but also easily accessible e.g. by train, and if self-catering, with facilities on-site (or within walking distance) as we won't be able to bring food etc. with us. I have came across many lovely places but have yet to see any which would be easy enough to get to via public transport. We are not working within a set budget, and we do realise this is the most expensive time of year. I realise this is extremely vague but as I say, we are open-minded and looking for any ideas/inspiration/advice.

Fortunately for you, you don't need to go that far to get into stunning scenery. Even going to one of the holiday parks around Loch Lomond https:/…loch-lomond-holiday-park which have a shop on site and you can reach by bus from Glasgow although it would mean a 20 minute walk along the main road so maybe not ideal. You can take the train to Tarbet and arrange a local taxi from there.

It is also not that far so perhaps you might know someone to give you a lift there. That way you could also take supplies.

I realy think you might struggle to get booked somewhere this late in the day though. Schools on holiday, mid summer etc..

Lots of places might have been booked up moths ago. They do have lodges left at the Loch Lomond park though.

Isle of Arran is easily reached by public transport and there are lots of accommodation options (depending if available!), but try Auchrannie to start with.

Pitlochery or Dunkeld. Arrive by train. Plenty accommodation to choose from and shops, restaurants, bars, etc. Beautiful scenery to explore on foot and with local buses.
