Not sure why you've posted this on the Newcastle forum but the best way is Ryanair or Aer Lingus between Dublin, Shannon or Cork to Glasgow, Prestwick, Aberdeen or Edinburgh. Cheap flights if you book them far enough in advance, takes between 40-60 minutes.

It's Newcastle, County Down

As for the OP it depends where they are trying to get to & from as there is a reasonable ferry service

you are right. I am thinking more from Belfast since I will be working SI to NI. Perhaps it is easier to go from Cork or Dublin? The plan is to arrive into Dublin and do SI than move up to NI and then eventually over to Scotland. Not sure if we should fly or take the ferry?

Ferry is an option but from Belfast City Ryanair fly to Prestwick south of Glasgow. Flights from as little as a pound including taxes. You will have to pay for any baggage and beware of the 15 kg allowance. If you only have less than 10kg of carry on then you don't have to pay. You can also fly Ryanair from Derry to Glagow Prestwick.

There is a train station at the airport where you can get to anywhere in Scotland and they have 1/2 price travel.

Easyjet fly from Belfast Intrnational to Glasgow International

If you are carrying a lot of stuff then the ferry/train might suit. Details here:-

Rogk79,

Thank YOu for your info, yes it is helpful.

Also wondering, can we get last minute flights to Glasgow? Or do we have to book in advance.

last minute flights to Glasgow, or anywhere for that matter will cost you a fortune, best to book well in advance.

The later you leave it the more expensive it will be so best to book early.
