Belfast Pub/Club Licensing Laws

Is it true the latest you can be served alcohol in Pubs/Clubs is 1am? and everywhere shuts at 2am? Thanks for any info you can give.

Alas, generally speaking, yes it is true. In fact, I could be wrong but I think it might actually be midnight on Sundays. Our licencing laws are woefully outdated, although there was a consultation about revised opening hours last year so maybe something will come of that at some point (although I wouldn't bet on it!).

Theres a chance you "might" get served a little later in some clubs (not gonna name names but it went on in one or two city center clubs in my day). And as Bridget says, it's so outdated. Just like our Sunday opening laws where it's illegal to purchase a banana in the likes of Tesco before 1pm seemingly. I've been working Sunday's on a regular basis for 25yrs now so this isn't just about people having the day off. Many people work early on a Sunday. As ever, I expect it harks back to some draconian religious rubbish.
