If you fancy a good Fish supper,

Visit Spences on Beersbridge Road,

Went the other week while in Belfast, well worth the visit, best I have tasted in a long time,

Good Pasties too.

Thanks for the tip. As an East Belfast dweller myself, I might indeed give it a wee go :-)

Yes, Spences have been there for years. My friends Dad gets fish and chips every week and has done for years. I am getting addicted to this forum. I live in Berkshire now, but I originally come from east Belfast. Lucky you Bridget moving home, I'm trying to coax my Hubby to move back.

Ah tell him he'll love it if he moves here. My own Yorkshireman is rather enamoured with the place!

Bobby, have you tried The Avenue on Mountcollyer Avenue? I find it nicer than the Moyola these days, although maybe just personal preference.

Spences is great!

I used to love the Trafalgar on Bloomfield Avenue (sadly gone) and the Hot Spot on the Upper Newtownards Road (in its first incarnation, not any of the recent poor efforts).

Good fish and chips used ot be a lot easier to find!

Hot Spot closed down recently actually, which really only leaves John Dorys along that stretch of the road (mediocre). There are other places on the streets off the Upper N'ards Road but I haven't gotten around to trying any of them yet!

Hot Spot closed down years ago if you ask me, once Norman sold up!

The two recent versions have been poor and I wasn't surprised to see the latest close, having sampled it once......

Yes trafalgar was good, friar Tuck on bloomfield road was good too( I don't know if it's still there) You are right Hot Spot was good when Norman had it. It was the one I used mostly because I lived not far from it.

Bridget, hubby lived in Belfast for 13 years and only moved because of his job and he loved it.

Friar Tuck is still there. Haven't eaten from it in years though.
