Northern Ireland/Northwest Ireland in 8 days

Good morning,

I just booked flights into Belfast and out of Shannon (3/31-4/9) for myself and my boyfriend. We are late 20s/early 30s and live in NYC so we are hoping for green landscapes, nice people, laughter and great pubs!

Please help with an itinerary including sites, accomodations, etc. We are not opposed to Belfast but would like to spend time in the country, too. Additionally, we plan on 4ish days in Northern Ireland and 4ish days in Donegal/sligo.

THANK YOU for all of your help.

Erin

a must visit is the Giants Causeway and the coast road from Belfast right round to donegal...it's worth the visit. There are plently of chances to stop off & stay along the route

Hi Psychnyc,

Have a look at the tourist websites first, see what appeals to you and then post back with a suggested itinerary....you'll get more help this way as it is difficult to make suggestions for such a broad sweep.

Start with this one:

Hi Erin,

Are you planning to hire a car?...just occurred to me that your last weekend is Easter and the public transport options might be restricted? This will also make a great difference to the itineraries anyone might suggest.

Happy planning!

Another vote for the coast road, right around to Donegal! Nice spot to stay is the Ballyliffin Lodge in Ballyliffin Co. Donegal. Book a table at the Ramore Restaurant in Portrush the food is excellent and the views lovely.

Coast road from Belfast up into Co Antrim is a MUST...drive thru lovely towns of Cushendun and Glenns of Antrim....nice B&B that is just outside Ballintoy, Crockatinney guest House/B&B, provides easy access to Giants Causeway,Carrick-a Reade bridge, Bushmills distillery, Dun Luce Castle...you can then drive down into Donegal via Derry...B&B in Killybegs ,Inishduff, is very nice....good central location for exploring Donegal...
