First time visit in Pembrokeshire, best base for walking?

Hi,

We are looking for initially a long weekend in July, we love the north west wales coastal paths and Cornwall but know nothing of this area. Could anyone recommend a good base for first visit? We like to do round robin walks but hear there is a fab bus service, like to walk around 10 to 15 miles, making a day of it.

We may camp too so any recommendations. For a camp site would be great too 😜

Details of the bus service:

I'd also second Dozydai's recommendations, and have a soft spot for Newport. Morawelon campsite has great views

Or you could try this one near St.Davids - Caerfai Farm

Our favourite part of pembrokeshire to walk is from St Dogmaels to Newport. Great site for a variety of walks around St Dogmaels here http://www.walkstdogmaels.co.uk/ plus good linked up public transport site here http://www.traveline-cymru.info/ . I think the campsite next to Poppit sands beach is open in July (it only has a 2 month permit), it's basic ut the location is amazing (saying that people do camp on the beach if it is closed). Plus check out Allt y Coed at Cemaes Head near Poppt Sands and we love Conifers campsite in Newport. There are also cab a bag companies in the area and good yha's at Poppit and Newport.
