Travel to central london

My friend will travel to central London after visiting Windsor castle. Instead of taking train from Windsor, is it better to drive to Heathrow airport and then go to London by national express airbus. It is a direct bus? I was thinking it would be convenient for them to go to London by airbus, as they have huge luggage with them.

It would be hassle from them to change a train and then london subway to get to their hotel in London.

Any suggestions?

You can take "huge luggage" on the train.

Where in London are they staying as direct trains from Windsor end up at Waterloo station and trains with a change at Slough (via the footbridge with lifts) go to Paddington.

Hold on.

If they have huge luggage with them, they will *not* be able to visit Windsor Castle, unless they are staying there overnight, and have the hotel hold their luggage on the day they visit.

Only items that can fit through an airport security style scanner are allowed on Castle grounds. There is no luggage storage in or near Windsor.

If they are planning on going to Windsor from Heathrow with luggage, this is not a good idea.

Although I find it a bit of hassle looking through several posts by an individual to try and estimate or peice together a persons itinerary, I did read earlier that they are picking up friends from Heathrow. This may be in a car, where bags can be stored when they go into the castle. There was also some post about parking somewhere as well.

Perhaps the OP can flesh out their itinerary a bit more so we are not left guessing.

If they are discussing friends being picked up at Heathrow, and going on to London, perhaps it would be best to know where in London they are staying, so the best transport option can be recommended.

The 'Airbus' service from Heathrow ceased some years ago. The only National Express services from Heathrow are the regular services to Victoria Coach Station.

Thanks guys.

We picked up our friends at airport this morning and then drove to Windsor. After visiting Windsor castle and great park, we dropped them at Sloug station in the evening. They managed to catch a train to go to Paddington and then tube to Kings Cross London.

We had a fantistic day trip in Windsor today!
