Luggage storage for 3 days

3 Safe.place/locker to store most of her luggage rather then taking it to hostel?

4. Cheap places to eat and usual cost? She doesn't plan on eating--LOL

5. Any safety concerns? Do's or Do not's

6. Chesapest way to get from Leeds to Shannon after concert?

Which concert is she going to? Is it Leeds festival at Bramham Park?

If so, just one day or the full 3 days?

It's quite a way from Leeds and most attendees camp there.

If a different concert, you need to say where so we can help with your other questions.

Is she flying into Leeds Airport (LBA) ?

Where is the plane from New York landing and on what date? Is it the 27th and, if so, on what date is the concert in Leeds?

This information is significant before getting into the finer details raised in your post. If the flight is going straight to Leeds Bradford it makes things easier but I will have to let people with better knowledge of the local area advise on hostels and left luggage facilities.

A bigger problem is getting from Leeds to Shannon. The easiest option is probably a train from Leeds to Manchester Airport and then a Ryanair flight from Manchester to Shannon. A problem is that Ryanair have very meagre baggage allowances and fees are high if you want to take heavy bags ("store most of her bags" sounds ominous).

It is a complicated conundrum that you pose and given the logistical difficulties and the expense, I wonder if detouring via the UK to see this concert is worthwhile. Only you and your granddaughter can make that call.

Yes it is Leeds Festival 2016 in Braham Park and she only wants to attend the one day Sunday-is this a safe place? Is it far from the airport?

She will be Flying from New York directly to Leeds Airport and wants to attend the concert and then fly from Leeds to Shannon. We have not booked her air yet stell deciding if going to Leeds is a good idea or safe one.

We are exploring whether this is a good thing or not

She will be attending Limrock University and must be there August 30th

She will have 1- 2 large suitcases (which she wants to store) and carry on for clothing for 2 days that she will take to Hostel

The rest of her things we will ship directly to the University in Shannon

Seems there is a flight from Leeds to Shannon--correct.

The flights are about seven hours via Heathrow and cost $600

Is this what you are seeing?

Nothing direct

Are you sure you/she want to do this for a one day jolly?

It does seem. A bit of a trek, is it a particular band she wants to see. Reading festival runs at the same time and the acts usually perform at both on different days. Not sure of logistics with Reading but might be worth considering.

If not then I would suggest the airport bus to city centre, takes 25 mins. Maybe stay around Burley road, theres a YHA or consider an airbnb.

If she really doesn't want to leave her luggage then there is storage in the train station, the bus stops outside

The festival has allocated buses that ship people up to Bramam park from city centre, takes about 30 mins

She would need to get the train direct to Manchester Airport to fly with Ryanair to Shannon. As mentioned before, they have strict baggage policies, a small carry on and each hold bag needs to be paid for

If you are travelling through the City's main rail station there is a staffed luggage baggage deposit office where you could store bags safely (everything is security screened and the office is attended) - fee payable per day

As far as I can see, incorrect. Now I have no idea what the Bishop is talking about when he says flights go via London and cost $600, carrying a musical instrument or not, but they actually leave from Manchester, not Leeds, and cost around £20. The operator is Ryanair as I said in post 2.

The problem is the flight leaves quite early, 8.45, and though there is a direct train from Leeds to Manchester Airport the first train of the day leaves at 5.50 and arrives at 7.10. which is cutting it very fine. Staying in Manchester the night before is probably preferable. The train ticket will cost a little over £8.

Read and read again Ryanair's policy on baggage fees. Carry much more than a toothbrush and a paperback book and charges will be levied.
