Day Ride from Haworth to Cotswold

We will be driving from Haworth down to Costwold in late April. We will depart Haworth in the afternoon and stop by for lunch at Colton Bassett to explore the village and get some cheese. I had initially planned to stop by Straford-upon-Avon before arriving at Cleeve Hill in time for sunset but I'm just wondering if there's another village that's more quaint and less commercialised that we should check out?

Any suggestions is gladly appreciated!

Hi, Haworth in Yorkshire, via Colston Bassett in Nottinghamshire to Cotswolds as a day trip?

What time in "the afternoon" are you leaving and do you mean to return on the same day?

Another village more quaint and less commercialised than what? Colston Bassett is tiny and Stratford-upon-Avon is a town of close to 30,000 people that relies heavily on its Shakespeare links and historic houses to attract tourists.

I am confused. You say you plan on leaving Haworth in the afternoon and having lunch in Colton Basset (which is two hours drive away assuming you don't hit heavy traffic). You might not even find the dairy open to buy cheese! Stratford upon Avon is another 1.5 hours away. Stratford-upon-Avon isn't in the Cotswolds and isn't a village - it is a small town.

You cannot possibly see the Cotswolds having left Yorkshire on the same day. The Cotswolds is a large area and Cleeve Hill at sunset (assuming that you can see the sun - April is not guaranteed) is hardly the high point. Going there just to see one arbitrary place as part of a box ticking exercise doesn't make sense. If you Google the Cotswolds you will find masses of information about the area and what there is to see.

Hello Andmar, sorry if my post was confusing. I meant it was a day of driving and to get to Cotswold and thereafter we will be staying for 2 nights to enable us sufficient time to explore the place. I did more research after posting with you and I agree that’s a lot of driving planned for the day so we may even skip Haworth (I will come from the edge of North York Moors) and make my way down south.

Thanks for checking in and letting me know that it’s a long shot hoping to see sunset at Cleeve Hill in April. Will just hit Cotswolds and spend the evening at Combe Castle instead since we may arrive at around 5pm assuming regular traffic.

Hi Unclefey - my apologies if I weren’t clear. Not meant as a day trip (back and forth) but exploring a meaningful pitchstop between edge of North York Moors down to Cotswold which google map has indicated is a day of driving. Haworth as well as Colton Bassett were initially planned as stops but I guess I may have to relook at my route to see what works better.

BTW, it's The Cotswolds (as it's a range of hills).
