Heworth is about 2 miles so too far to walk, but "free" or cheap park and ride facility (but means keeping off the Newcastle Brown). Pelaw is the nearest metro station but I cannot see a walking route from Whitemare Pool to this, and possibly no safe parking, and think this is well over a mile away. There may be buses handy. Have used a day ticket, and simple to buy at machines, but cannot recall which is best. if mainly a there and back trip to Newcastle then the cheapest would be best, also allowing use from station to station within Newcastle if required, but not to Metro Centre as this is off the Metro routes so a wider ticket needed to get the trian there.

Hi,

Heworth metro is not within walking distance. Fellgate station is the nearest, about a 20-30 minute walk away. There are some (free) parking spaces there but not a lot. A cheap day return ticket is about £2.30.

On your return journey, you would need to make sure that you get a "South Hylton" train, the others all go a different direction and you would need to change at Pelaw.
