We're going to a concert on Thursday night and I though it might be nice to have a meal beforehand. Any locals got any suggestions for somewhere that's not too far away? (not curry though)
Thanks.

Depends what you are looking for Puddleduck, although up a hill the arena is a pleasent walk from the Quayside so for an italians would maybe suggest Azzuri, Big Mussels is a favourite also, but lots of choice down there, like El Torrero for tapas and paella a little further up the hill, if you walk along the river past The Copthorne there are some steps to your right that will lead you up to the arena, enjoy the concert.
Thanks Tom
Shame you didn't want a curry as Sachins is an excellent Indian Restaurant just near the Arena anyway...... I would suggest the Waterside Chinese on Forth Banks which is just a couple of hundred yards away or the Copthorne Hotel Bar does a nice meal with views over the River and the Tyne Bridge and its very comfortable and reasonably priced. The Arena is near the Quayside so there are loads of good restaurants on Dean Street which is just near the swing bridge (anyone will point you in the right direction)
Good luck!
Thanks Magpie - that Chinese sounds good.
Try Panis on High Bridge Street. Its a Sardinian restuarant (no piza). It's about 10 minutes walk to the arena You'll get a few beers and a good meal for £20/head
Unos and Rumpolies on the Quayside are nice, and cheap too. We went to Unos on Tuesday before seeing Take That and it was £46 for 4 of us for starters, mains and about 3 drinks each - not bad!
El Molinos & La Tasca are good for Tapas, or we always enjoy the food in the Slug and Lettuce, it is overlooking the Sage so has some fab views of the Tyne & the Bridges, very pretty!
