Yup. Haslemere is a pleasant town - although perhaps less charming than Midhurst or Godalming. The centre is quite compact, with an attractive high street. There's a branch of the Ask pizza/pasta chain in a nicely converted old post office building.

In the High Street there's the three-star Georgian House Hotel, which boasts an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, gym and some four-poster rooms.

Out of town you have the v posh Lythe Hill Hotel & Spa - http://www.lythehill.co.uk

Further out - and cheaper - there's a Travelodge on the A3 at Liphook - travelodge.co.uk/find_a_hotel/…Liphook

A recommended pub is the Mill Tavern at Shottermill. It's over 500 years old and reportedly has two ghosts. The function room was used as a mortuary during WWII.

Hi,

I live in Haslemere!

It is a nice place with the town centre being a few shops and resturants - for more info see www.haslemere.com

The local hotels are the Lyth Hill Hotel - very nice rooms and a fantastic spa, the Georgian on the High Street is very nice as well with another spa/pool and Gym.

Just outside of Haslemere is Liphook which has the Old Thorns Golf and County Club which is a brilliant place to stay - 18 hole golf course, 3 great resturants and a brillaint swimming pool and gym.

As odd as it seems for someone to be thinking about coming to where i live i cannot recommend it enough - 40 minutes by train to Portsmouth and 50 to London as it has a mainline station.

Hope this helps

Hi there, Not sure why but the mentions on this forum about the Lythe Hill Hotel are included under the Lyth Hill House (B&B) entry in Shropshire. I guess it's easy for the system to get confused between the two as the spelling is similar and we do have some things in common - luxury accommodation, indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi - but geographically we are some distance away in rural Shropshire!
