See www.thetrainline.com

You can change once at Reading (easy but take 4 hours), or go into London Victoria, subway/tube, bus or taxi across London to Euston, then train direct in 3 hours. The second is far more hassle but there are several trains in case you miss a connection

Price is 50 pounds single, 52 return any route.

Another option, is to take the train from Gatwick to Watford Junction, (20 miles NW of London), and then get a train from Watford Junction to Stoke. No lugging luggage across London.

Every 2 hours, (e.g. 9.37, 11,37, 13.37) witha nice easy 30 minute connection. Total journey 3h 3 mins.
