Nice B&B/hotel near Alton Towers for one night

We're doing Alton Towers Saturday and Waterworld Sunday and need somewhere to spend the night on Saturday. We have a car so not a problem driving for 20 minutes to get to our bed for the night.

Would like a smart B&B/Guest House or a hotel. Any good suggestions? Not really sure what locations to look in on this website as I dont know the area.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I'd recommend The Holiday Inn (Stanley Matthews Way) Stoke.

(Just written a review for it)

We stayed there last weekend and it was a really good hotel. Just off the A50/A500 and J15 M6 and according to previous posts only takes 20 mins to Alton Towers. (Situated right next to Stoke City ground,Britannia Stadium, so easy to follow signs for that to the hotel.)Then you will be close by to go to Waterworld on the Sunday as well.

We pre-paid the hotel and paid £56 for a family room with complimentary breakfast ,but I think you have to book at least 4 days in advance for that rate.( The rate when taking the normal option of being able to cancel right up to the day was about £67/£68 )

BUT Be aware that Stoke City play at their home ground on Saturday 1st May,with a 3pm kick-off ,so hotel will be busy during the afternoon as the supporters drink in the bar. But as you probably won't be back from Alton Towers before the evening that shouldn't be a problem.

Alternately, there is the Premier Inn,Trentham Gardens on the A34,just a couple of miles from the A500/A34 junction. That has good reviews and is a fairly new Premier Inn. Has a shopping outlet and Frankie & Bennys right by the hotel (sharing same car parks)as well as Trentham gardens and Monkey Forest.

Hope you enjoy your weekend!

Julie

Just to add.....one hotel that I DIDN'T like the look of when passing was 'The Crown Hotel,Longton. ( But I must point out that we haven't actually stayed at this establishment)

This hotel is featured on a few booking sites as being a good one for Alton Towers etc.

We had considered booking there ourselves, but changed our mind after reading TA reviews.

When we walked past it ,it looked really scruffy & rough and we were so glad that we hadn't taken a chance on staying there.

Both the hotels StaffordJas recommends absolutely fine, clean, modern, etc.

If you want to pay a bit more (and literally walk 100 yards or so to Waterworld) there is the Moat House Hotel, Festival Park, Stoke.
