Day in Bath.....

HI , having a day in Bath on 15th Feb 14 (sat).coming from Hertfordshire on the Friday and staying at Premier Inn Trowbridge which is 10 miles away. Planning on using park and ride on the sat and coming into Bath to see all the touristy spots, the pulmeny bridge, roman baths etc. Any one know where park and rides are and how much they cost?

Do you have a special reason to stay in Trowbridge ? Bath has its own Premier Inn, and to put it politely has rather more to offer than Trowbridge.

The reason is the price. Bath premier Inn wanted £89 a room and Trowbridge £29 a room so we are quite happy to travel in on the Saturday as we are just chilling in the hotel on the Friday.

Go to Lansdown park and ride.

Info on the B&NES council website.

P.S. It's Pulteney Bridge ;-)

Thanks All, and knew I spelt it wrong lol. We will get the park and ride at Lansdown and pay the £2.50 each for a return which sounds pretty good to me. Is everything in walking distance in Bath?

Yep. Bath is pretty compact and the principal sites are in and around the City centre.

IF you are driving straight to Trowbridge and visiting Bath for the day from there, not Hertfordshire, I would go to the Odd Down P&R, not Lansdown.

Details here:

visitbath.co.uk/travel-and-maps/parking-in-b…

There is a (1/2 hourly ish) train service between Trowbridge and Bath, but that seems to cost £7.20 per person as opposed to a bit of fuel and £2.50 bus fare.

Yes, most of the tourist attractions in Bath sit comfortably within a square mile. This link might be of use:

Bath is probably the most walkable city out there. Well, if we are talking about cities with so much history and historical places to visit.

I never did undertsand why they have HoHo tour buses there!

Okay, there's a steep(ish) hill to walk up to the Circus to get to Royal Crescent - unless you walk the less steep route through Queen Square!

Where are you driving to at the end of the day ? if back to Hertfordshire I would use the Lansdown P&R as that is nearest the motorway - and you won't have to cross the city. Try and get to Bath before 09:30.
