small party venue

Can anyone please recommend a venue - self catering, for a party of about 100 in November. Must be resonable price. Could be village hall perhaps ? Thanks.

Can you be a bit more specific - 100 is not a small venue in this part of the world !

I assume you mean in Bath or surrounds, but how far from Bath, for example ? will you require an alcohol license ?

I have just spoken to someone in the trade, he suggests Bradford on Avon Rugby Club - the contact is Mike Mizen on 07717 317372.

Problem will be if you want a Saturday, as that is during the season.

Otherwise try these, no idea of size: the first 3 are within a few miles of Bath, the fourth in Larkhall, a suburb.

Bath City Football Club have facilities for hire. They have 2 function suites, although only 1 is normally hired out. But it has a bar, PA and they can do on site catering. You'll be able to do your own catering too.

You'll even be able to have your function if there's a match on.

It's just under 2 mile from Bath city centre and has parking.

Good point, Matt.

The univerities may also have something to offer (University of Bath and Bath Spa University).

I have definitely been to a wedding reception at Bath Uni (albeit 15 years ago).

I think it might be a little bit too small for you, but perhaps think about Claverton Down Village Hall. It is on the university bus route into/out of town and there are plenty of car parking spaces and some outdoor lawn (you might be able to erect a marquee perhaps). The hall has a fair-sized stage (small steps up all along the front from the hall) and a kitchen that would be large enough to dial with a buffet.

We went to a kids' party there recently and noted that it had been smartened up recently.

Just south(ish) of the River near the station, St Matthews Church is vast. Again it has a kitchen (a lot bigger) than Claverton) with a serving hatch into a fairly big room (I guess this used to be the church hall when it was still regularly used as a church). The former church itself (through swing doors) still looks a bit like a church that has had all its pews removed (the floor is now carpeted) but I am sure you could comfortably fit 100!

My first though was Oriel Hall in Larkhall (see post with links above)

Did you need somewhere central or would you consider a village location?
