Can anyone please suggest any good walking routes in and around Bath? Distance no object, thank you.

Hi there

It really depends upon what sort of thing you like to see, can you give us a clue please?

Well, not too fussy about sightseeing on the walks (hoping to be able to do that on other days!), just aiming for pleasant walking, town or local countryside, flat or hilly doesn't matter, somewhere decent to eat along the way if possible. Thank you.

1) Walk along Kennet & Avon Canal - ending in Bathampton, then up through Claverton past American Museum.

2) Bath Skyline Walk (map available online on National Trust website)

Must the walk begin and end in Bath, or will you have a car to get you there ?

.

Our local paper, the Chronic(le), publishes a weekly walk by a chap called Nigle Vile, a local teacher who has his own website.

This week's starts and ends in Batheaston, which has a regular bus service from the centre of town. The walk takes in Solsbury Hill, which you may remember from the Peter Gabriel song (he used to live on the lower slopes).

unfortunately this doesn't include the details of the walk, just background.

I have tried to find the detail, but can't, you would have to get a copy of the Chronic.

Very helpful responses, many thanks, some interesting sounding walks to look into.

RC - no car, but happy to use public transport for part of the way and I'll certainly pick up a Chronicle.

Thank you again.
