What part of York is a good location for tourist?

Hi. We are planning 3 day or so visit to York. Which part of town we shall search for accomodation.

We are interested in history+ child (10 y.o. Girl) friendly activities and attractions.

Are 3 days enough for York?

Thanks. Yuri

Anywhere in or near the Walls (ie as centrally as possible)

York city centre is very compact, you can walk right across it in about10-15 minutes.

As said anywhere central is fine. I used to live within a mile of the centre and could walk across it in under 30 minutes.

Is Lawrence st. (The Rose and Crown) central enough?

Are 3 days enough time to explore York, or I better do it 4 days.

Thank you very much everybody!

Yuri.

it's about 30 seconds to the Wall

3 days should be more than enough - 4 days would allow you to have a day trip into the surrounding area (perhaps Castle Howard)

Thank you Alanrow! castle Howard seems great.

I will add 2 more days. 1 for CH and 1 for York maze.

I will need a car for those two. Any idea which company is recommended in York?

Thanks. Yuri.

When is your trip? If I interpret their website correctly the maze is not open until the school summer holidays which in England usually begin towards the end of July

About 19th of July, give and take.

Our trip is about beginning of August.

I thought about renting a car for 2 days, but it seems we shall be better off with taxis.

Thanks. Yuri

2-3 days is ample for York but I am sure you would really enjoy getting out into the countryside to .So a rental car is the best idea. To the North of York is very pretty and you coudl travel easily up to Whitby and the coast Helmsley is a great market town and Hutton le Hole and Thornton le Dale are villages which I sure you would like too . York is an ancient city with a lot of offer but it is a city ...

If I am reading your posts correctly, you want to be in York and in Jersey at the beginning of August. Are you trying to decide between the two places?
