Hazelwood Castle Hotel

Has anyone stayed at this hotel, would you recommend it as somewhere special to stay for an anniversary?

Yes to both questions - it's lovely! Great food, lovely setting etc etc.

My only slight reservation is that it is a very popular wedding venue at weekends, and during the week it is widely used for Business Conferences (as it is near the A1, Leeds, York etc). So if this bothers you may want to ask what else is going on at the same time as your booking.

Hope you don't mind, but here's a few other suggestions for 'special ' places in the vicinity.

1) Yorke Arms Ramsgill (my favourite place, very romantic, in the Dales, quiet and peaceful, Michelin starred food)

2) Devonshire Arms

Yeah, it's a pretty nice hotel, with good food too. It's fairly isolated, so there's not too much in addition to the hotel if you were thinking about venturing out and about. But for an anniversary I guess that might not be of concern.

If you're still looking around I would recommend checking out Swinton Park in Masham too, it's only about another 40 minutes up the A1.
