Waterloo Station to Heathrow?

We will be staying near Waterloo Station. Can we take a train, tube, etc to Heathrow from here? If not, what is the best way to get to Paddington for the Heathrow Express with luggage and all? Other suggestions? I imagine a taxi will be quite expensive.

Thank you

Hello, Family. It's not a tough trip to LHR at all, just long. Here's how to do it:

From Waterloo, take the Jubilee line to Westminster, or the Bakerloo or Northern line to Embankment. From there, pick up a District line westbound train, making sure it says Richmond, not Wimbledon. The westbound train will stop at Hammersmith; there you can get out of the carriage, cross the platform, and pick up a westbound Piccadilly line train to LHR. No stairs are needed, it's one of the easiest changes of train in London.

Since the Tube station at LHR T4 is closed, you can either alight from the train at Hatton Cross and take a free bus service to T4, or go to T1,2,3 and take the free Heathrow Express loop train to T4, if that's your terminal.

If you're travelling on a weekend, it may be a bit more problematic, as the District line is closed between Aldgate East and Earl's Court on some Saturdays and Sundays for the next few months. TracyColorado was kind enough to post the dates the line will close on this site, or you can try to get the information from www.tfl.gov.uk.

Hope this helps.

You take a train from Waterloo station to Feltham. Immediately outside Feltham station you take the 285 bus to Heathrow. A six zone travel card or ticket is valid for this journey.

Quite a number of options

Bakerloo line to Paddington, short walk to the main line station, Heathrow Express (41 Minutes)

Jubilee line to Green Park, Piccadilly line to Heathrow (Just under 1 hour)

Given the walk at Paddington between the underground and the main line stations, I would go for the cheaper and slightly longer option via Green Park. www.tfl.gov.uk show that there are no stairs to negotiate on the change (Lifts or escallators)
