Best time to paint the town red? When it goes green! ))))

Extensive St. Patrick's Day celebrations are going to take place in London on 12-13 March. Can anyone briefly share their impressions from such events in past years? Is the parade a must to see? Which day will it be on? Won't there be too many people out there for the concert in Trafalgar Square? And, last but not least, are they going to sell Guinness for a pound a pint across the city that day? ))))

London Irish community heavily integrated, so StP celebs previously tend to be locality based. Am thinking of 1st & 2nd generation migrants.

I understand that the 17th March event is being heavily promoted - backing of London Mayor.

All I saw last year was a pile of aggressive drunks, decked out in national colours, staggering onto buses in the West End.

It's a balancing act between celebration of national day for London ethnic community & exploitation (commercial & political)

by drinks industry & London politicians.
