I'm looking to book a burlesque show for my husband and I for our wedding anniversary...

I've looked at Madame jojo's and Proud.. Any I'm missing? Which is better?

Thanks in advance, any suggestions welcome!

Burlesque has become quite popular in the US in the past few years- think of Dita Von Teese-

The old time high art style of stripping. Perhaps that's what the OP wants.

If an entertainment is advertised as 'cabaret' style it generally means that the audience are seated at tables and served with food/ drink, rather than sitting in rows. It's seating rather than content.

If cabaret is defined by being seated at tables and served food and drink while you are entertained, then most comedy cafes and clubs are most definitely cabarets.

Wansteader, I think Lola Lasagne's career started some time after Madame Jojo's first opened. I am informed by someone old enough to remember that the big act there around 20-30 years ago was Ruby Venezuela.

Following the definition in #12, cabaret could also include any of London's jazz clubs. The OP could do much worse than take her husband to Ronnie Scott's.

Another suggestion in the cabaret offerings:

Situated in the Brasserie Zedel, just off Piccadilly Circus.

It will be interesting to see what the OP makes of this should she ever come back to read it!

The matcham room in the hippodrome casino often has burlesque nights

its a beautiful venue, drinks are crazy expensive though.

Hi,

Good Evening Harmon,

I am also looking for a burlesque show for my husbands birthday. Why is it so difficult and why are people sooo narrow minded. Why wouldnt you go with your man ?!!!

I was wondering - did you go and if so where?

With thanks in advance

Helen
