Depending on when you plan to travel - time of day and day of the week matter - you may make the journey by Underground and taxi.

Take a Piccadilly line train to Green Park. Alight and take the escalator up to the ticket hall then another back down to the Jubilee line platforms for a train towards Stratford. Alight at London Bridge, where there are escalators up to the ticket hall and street level.

Follow the signs to the rail station concourse and taxi rank from there - it's a short walk with one escalator up - and take a taxi to your destination.

Cash single fare on the Underground is £5.50 but could be as low as £3 if you use PAYG on Oyster. Taxi to Great Dover Street shouldn't cost more than £7 - 9.

TravellerPlus, if one were to arrive at about 11am at Heathrow on Air Canada, would it be wise to pay for a Zone 1-6 1-day Travelcard for around £8 (forgot the exact amount). I'm thinking that one can get out of Heathrow (in Zone 6) and into central London, and use the Travelcard for the rest of the day - am I getting this right? Thanks!

Richmond, an off peak zones 1 - 6 Travelcard (£8.90) is a good idea, and certainly you may use it the rest of arrival day. Using PAYG on Oyster is another option; the off peak cap for travel in zones 1 - 6 is £8.50.
