Best way to get from St. Pancras to Trafalgar Sq. area?

We will be arriving at St. Pancras from Paris, and staying near Trafalgar Square. There will be 6 of us with luggage, including two 8 year olds. What is the best (easiest) means of transport? Will the Tube be a problem with luggage? Should we book a private transfer of some sort?

Time of day / day of week for your arrival?

It can affect the answer....

Good point. We will be arriving on Easter Monday, likely mid-afternoon, say around 15h00m.

If you can manage escalators and some stairs with your luggage, you can take the Underground Piccadilly Line to Leicester Square, which is a few minutes' walk from Trafalgar Square.

There is step-free access at Kings Cross St Pancras using escalators and lifts. At Leicester Square there are escalators from platform to booking hall level, then about 20 stairs to street level.

Don't struggle to get through the regular automatic barriers with large luggage., but go to the wide gates at the side. Ask a member of staff to let you through if necessary.

Although this is one of those times when a cab or two (from the rank at St Pancras) would probably be best for all concerned.

Why not split the difference? Send three with most (or all) of the the bags in a taxi, and send the youngest members of staff and one adult on the number 91. The children will probably want to sit upstairs, and will almost certainly enjoy the views from the upper saloon.

Stop A is just across Euston Road from St Pancras. The 91 terminates at Trafalgar Square, and outside of peak hours shouldn't be crowded or busy.

Knowing the hotel will also help. If you take the tube it may be easier to get off at Charing Cross or even Embankment rather than Leicester Square and if it's a fair walk from Trafalgar Square then you might be better advised to take two taxis although the 91 would make a good introduction to London.

Wouldn't dream of doing this any other way than by taking two taxis. As its Easter Monday, traffic will be very light and buses and Tube will probably be running a reduced service due to the holiday.

Also saves time faffing about buying tickets for your party and will probably work out to be the same cost as two taxis
