Stansted Express

Does anyone have a discount code for Stansted Express please? They are trying to charge me £31.50pp return, which I feel is a bit of a rip off.

Grateful for any help please.

No discount codes, but you can get your ticket issued from Elsenham to London, for £22.60, and that's then valid to start from or travel to Stansted Airport. It's an off-peak ticket, and has certain time restrictions:

Not valid on ANY train timed to arrive at London Fenchurch Street,London Liverpool Street or London Kings Cross (from East Anglia via Cambridge) from 0430 to 1000 and at Stratford (London) before 0950 (London) before 0950, Tottenham Hale or Seven Sisters before 0940.

Not valid on any train departing London Liverpool Street or London Kings Cross (to East Anglia via Cambridge) before 09.30, or between 16.29 and 18:34 (inclusive).

Not valid on northbound trains departing Tottenham Hale before 0940 nor between 1641 and 1840 inclusive.

Also, if you travel by train a lot try a Network Railcard (£28 per year) for 1/3 off these fares, but only for travel after 10am. Or a Young Person's Railcard, if you are aged 16-25, which is the same price but doesn't have the 10am restriction.

Terravision coaches are a less expensive alternative to the StanEX. Single fare from £9 for the journey from Liverpool Street station, the Green Line coach stop near Victoria station or from Stratford.

?

There are in general no discount codes on the railways. None have been posted in this thread.

However as I said you can get 1/3 off most railfares in the southeast with a Network Railcard, and there are a variety of alternative fares for most routings depending on time of day, number travelling, etc. None of which are discount codes.

It sounds like our OP is travelling on his own, so my 'strange idea' would save him money, and your ticket, for 2, would be substantially more expensive.

But anyway, let's not snipe shall we?

8. Re: Stansted Express

it's no longer possible to book tickets via www.ryanair.com

32.80 is the absurd cost to travel for 50min each way. No discounts.

I really hope national express fat cats and contractors spend this increase in medicines

Hi somewhereinlondon,

This sounds like a really helpful workaround - do you happen to know if the Elsenham ticket idea still works?

Many thanks,

Alan

What's it got to do with National Express?
