It's not a straightforward journey, requires a change along the way. Take the Victoria line towards Walthamstow Central to Green Park. Alight and take an escalator up to the ticket hall then another back down to the Piccadilly line platforms for a train towards Cockfosters.

This sounds complicated but is much easier than following the directions in the station, which mean the use of stairs and a long hike on the flat.

Board the Piccadillly line train to sit near the rear of the train as possible, so you'll be nearest the way out at Russell Square. There are about 16 steps up from the Piccadilly line platform to the lift level, then lift to the ticket hall and street level.

Are you flying to Gatwick airport from YVR? If so then you can make a much easier journey by taking a First Capital Connect train to St Pancras station, then either the number 91 bus or walk about 10 minutes to the Royal National Hotel.

If you are flying to LGW, let us know the time of day and day of the week your flight arrives. If you're flying to Heathrow, take the Piccadilly line directly from the airport to Russell Square.

You would take the Victoria line north one stop to Green Park and change to the Piccadilly line to Russell Square.

But, are you actually starting your journey at Victoria, or from somewhere else (if so where), and where in the Russell Square area are you heading? Also on which day/date are you doing this? Depending on this there may be a better alternative, or engineering works we need to check for.

Thanks, I'm actually arriving at Victoria Coach Terminal next Friday....with quite a bit of luggage. I'll be arriving three other friends. Would taking the taxi more easier/economical? I'll going from Victoria Station to Royal National Hotel (Russell Square tube station).

Thanks again!

Rather than take the coach from Heathrow, consider taking the Piccadilly line to King's Cross station. There is step free access from the train platform to street level (one escalator up to the ticket hall then a lift up to Euston Road) and at the airport stations; a taxi from KX to the hotel shouldn't cost more than £8 - 9.

…wn.com/pd/02/65/2027653a1b4ce492271cc533301… Piccadilly line cars have room in each car for bags - what's shown in the picture is not the only baggage area - and if you're flying with BA you'll board the train at its start and have room to sort yourselves out.

London black cabs hold up to five pax, with no surcharges for luggage or more than one pax. The taxi rank at King's Cross is in Pancras Road - turn right when you leave the lift, walk around the station as if going to St Pancras then left at the traffic signal, where you'll see the taxi rank just ahead.

If you are ultimately coming from Heathrow then yes take the tube's Piccadilly line direct. Russell Square is the nearest station, though it has 27 stairs from the platform to the lift. That's not much at all (it's about 10' in elevation). But if you're uncomfortable with that then continue to Kings Cross as per above.

If you're not arriving from Heathrow, then I would take a taxi from Victoria to the hotel. The cost would be about £12-16 depending on traffic.
