Helloo, i have just came to london .
I dont know what londoners do , bottled or tap water ??
Thx inadvance
Fair few threads on this (do a search). Short answer, perfectly. I dare say others will share their views anyway.
The posh ones drink bottled, the rest of us drink it from the tap, council pop.
Its perfectly safe, but its very hard (i.e.high in calcium) so depending on where you come from, you may not like the taste. If you make a hot drink you'll find it leaves a scum on the surface, which is a bit off putting to look at, but there's nothing wrong with it.
A kitchen tap is fine. In many houses and hotels, bathrooms taps are fed from a tank, in which there may be debris or dead things, so I avoid those unless I know.
I've been asking for tap water in restaurants as well as pubs during my last three trips to London; it's free, no one ever denied it and I never felt sick.
I've rarerely had scum on top of a hot drink made from tap water. The only time I have was due to the tea bags and/or not using water that had fully boiled.
London water is fine to drink. Tastes better chilled or made into a hot drink than when drunk at room temp.
FWIW, I find the water in London softer than where I grew up in southern Wiltshire.
Edited: 12 years agoOh well wiltshire. When I was growing up there sometimes the water would come out of the tap white from chalk in the reservoir. You'd have to let it sit so that it would separate out.
Agree - personally only drink from kitchen taps!
