Travel to Dublin Ireland from London

My Husband and I are traveling to London. We want to take a side trip to Ireland for at least a day or two. Any suggestions on how to get there? How long does it take? Best travel companies? Itineries?

Thanks

Ireland is an entire country, so "a day or two" seems ambitious !

If you just meant a day trip or an overnight then Dublin is very doable, you can fly from one of several London airports. No other mode of transport would be reasonable for a day or two's trip.

For what you can do in Dublin,or Ireland, in a day, two days or a week, post in the Dublin / Ireland forums.

You can fly to Dublin from Heathrow or London City in about an hour or you can take all day and travel by a combination of train and boat.

Once there you can book tours of various duration from Dublin or just stay and explore the city for a couple of days. You should head to that forum for the best advice - tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowForum-g186605-i90-Dubl…

Airlines that fly to Dublin (and other parts of Ireland):

www.aerlingus.com - from Heathrow

www.ryanair.com - from Gatwick, Stansted and Luton

www.airfrance.com - from London City

With ryanair be careful with the 'add ons' , which you can easily deselect.

Also bmi from Heathrow

The AirFrance fligthts are operated by their subsidiary company, Cityjet.

There are sometimes better deals at the Cityjet site than at the AirFrance site - I have no idea why.
