Luggage storage on High Speed Train

We will be travelling on the high speed train to Ashford International station later in the year. Is there any area in the carriages for luggage storage, as we will have 2 medium/large suitcases?

Yes - racks at the ends of each coach for large items and above your seat for smaller ones.

High Speed train from where?

The domestic Javelin trains have slightly less luggage space than the Eurostar but still enough for two suitcases.

Based on earlier posts from ikedeb, I think that "high speed train" means the Southeastern Trains domestic service from St Pancras rather than the international Eurostar trains from Belgium or France. (You can't take Eurostar from St Pancras to Ashford.)

I understand that the Southeastern high speed trains do have some luggage racks, though they are basically commuter trains. However, unless you're travelling in the evening peak from London, you should have plenty of room for your luggage.

Yes, one wouldn't take Eurostar from London to Ashford. It will be the domestic service (actually branded "Southeastern HighSpeed") that use the Javelin trains. As stated they are commuter trains. The seating is mainly airline style but there are some 4-person tables so if you get one of these you can stow underneath. There is some overhead storage, but the space is a bit stingy. Most people just stow large items in the doorways where there is quite a wide space. The journey is only 38 mins though so you'll be off again before you know it.

They have great big luggage racks at one end of each carriage, by the doors. No need to put luggage in the doorway.

Thanks everyone for your great info. Yes it is the Southeastern high speed train that we hope to travel on .Plan to catch one around 9am in the morning from St Pancras, have checked the timetable on national rail, just depends how organised we are on our morning of departure! Hopefully we may be able to sit at a 4-person table. Thanks again!
