Train: London to Canterbury

We will be arriving into St Pancras and after about an hour stopover, would like to travel to Canterbury where we are staying for 2 days.

Pardon my ignorance, but what would be the best was to obtain tickets for this journey? Is there a website that one can book and purchase tickets? Or can we just buy them at St Pancras?

THanks for any suggestiosn

Trains from St Pancras make the journey to Canterbury West in about an hour to an hour and ten minutes. Those departing at 42 minutes past the hour require no change of train; those leaving at 12 minutes past the hour require a change at Ashford International.

Off Peak return fares are available from £30.50. You may book at www.southeasternrailway.co.uk and collect the tickets at St Pancras after your arrival there.

Unless you are travelling before the end of August you can also buy the tickets at the same price at St Pancras on the day

Currently there's a 20% off offer by South East but it finishes at the end of the month

Thank you both very much for this advice. Is it necessary to reserve a seat on the train to Canterbury..(.a Wednesday and Friday in October)?

Thank you

No - in fact they are not reservable. Don't worry, you will get on.

Depending on the time you are travelling you need to be aware that it may be a bit crowded early evening when workers are heading home from London.
