Thankyou so much for your replies.............................I have been told that they will serve you as much of each selection as you like....is this information correct.........also.................my daughter has mentioned taking tea at The Ritz instead, however I've heard so many good things about the Dorchester..............has anyone first hand information they would care to share...........

Sorry for so many questions......thankyou again!

*To an extent*, yes it is. They will offer more sandwiches, if they forget, you can ask and they'll oblige. Later on, it's the same with scones and cream, cakes etc. Like everything, it's probably possible to get a "no" if you push your luck and start filling your pockets. They'll serve you until you're full, but it's not an all you can eat buffet.

Yes you may call for reinforcements, but they are rarely required as the initial serving is quite generous.

The Ritz is synonymous with London and as such is worthy of a visit. It may be a little more expensive and necessary to book. I would also be inclined to wear a jacket and tie.

I have not been in since 54, when my parents and I ducked in to avoid the smog. Everybody wore a tie in 54.

"Wow for a few sandwiches, scones and cake."

Not really, to call it that is a bit like calling a michelin starred meal "a bit of meat, some veg, and a sauce". You'd be right strictly speaking but you're missing the point. They're probably some of the best sandwiches, cakes, scones, preserves, cream, and selections of tea that you'll have, plus It's the environment, the crockery, the silver, the service. You're basically spoiled rotten for a couple of hours.
