One day in London transportation and itinerary help please!!

Following a 6 day trip to Ireland we have one day in London. We arrive Heathrow at 10am. We are staying at the Heathrow Marriott as we are flying home early the following day. Have been to London once before.

Questions: Is the London Eye worth doing? We plan on seeing "We Will Rock You" at the Dominion....what is the best way from the hotel into the city and from the Dominion back to the hotel? What are some suugestion for one day in London?

Will be there in 2 weeks.....we are two 30some year old sisters. Thanks!

Rather than thinking about what everyone else says you SHOULD see in London, why don't you think about what YOU really WANT to see, and start from there?

Heathrow Express would probably be the fastest way into Central London, but is a lot more expensive than the tube. I'd take the Picadilly Line every time, buying a Travelcard and then you have daylong access to tubes & buses for no further money.

Starting back to front...

From the Dominion theatre after the show, either take the Northen Line one stop southbound from Tottenham Court Road tube station or just walk down Charing Cross Rd to Leicester Square tube station. From Leicester Square take a Piccadilly Line train to Heathrow Terminals 1,2 & 3. Come up to the Heathrow Central Bus station and take any of bus numbers 105, 111, 140 or N9 to Hillingdon Corner which is the stop for the Marriott (see http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/gettingaround/maps/buses/pdf/heathrowterminals123-13970.pdf).

During the day, do whatever takes your fancy. The London Eye is certainly worth considering, especially if it's a clear day. But it won't take all the time you have available.

On first arrival, I assume you'll want to go to the hotel first and will have sorted out how you're going to get to there. The 105,111 and 140 buses (see above) are possibilities so long as you're travelling light. From the hotel, option 1 is to go back to Heathrow Central and

(a) catch the Heathow Express train to Paddington (15 mins but £16.50 minimum single fare and no Travelcard/Oyster option to reduce the cost);or

(b) take the Heathrow Connect train to Paddington (25 mins but cheaper); or

(c) take the Piccadilly Line from Heathrow Terminals 1, 2 & 3 (50 mins to central London).

Option 2 is to carry take the 140 bus heading away from Heathrow to Hayes & Harlington National Rail Station (final destination Harrow Weald) and pick up a train to Paddington from there (cheaper than Heathrow Express, more frequent than Heathrow Connect).

The forum is full of advice about ticketing options (Oyster, paper Tavelcard, 2-4-1 deals etc incuding in the Top Questions secion).
