Stansted airport to 27 Dalston Lane Hackney at 10pm

Hello,

we are arriving at 22 pm on 02/13 in Standsted and our hotel is in Hackney. According to google maps there is no connection at that time with the standstedexpress via Tottenham Hale. Should we go to Liverpool street and take subway from there?

Hackney covers quite a wide area. What is the name of the hotel please?

Two things to point out that will help -

1) We use dates the other way round. I assume you will be here in the 13th of February?

2) A subway is an underground walkway under a road and also a chain of sandwich shops! We interchangeably use the words tube and underground although, just to confuse matters, Hackney is reached by Overground train.

On that date assuming you get out of the airport at say 11pm then www.nationalrail.co.uk is giving a change at Seven Sisters to Hackney Downs station.

How that fits into you where your hotel is I don't know.

I presume the Premier Inn at Dalston Junction.

If you're really late, there will still be options to get to Liverpool Street (major railway station), and from there bus or taxi the last couple of miles. If you plan to use the bus, you need an electronic payment (oyster / contactless / Phone Pay)

There are all night buses from Liverpool Street (Bishopsgate side) to Dalston. The 242 stops virtually outside your hotel.

Thank you for your answers.

Yes, we are staying at Premier Inn.

We are landing at 10pm and have only hand luggage with us.

Even so, getting through passport control at Stansted at that time of night can be a lengthy experience as there's hundreds of flights from all over Europe arriving at the same time. If you get out of the airport before 11pm then you're doing well.

Take a National Express bus from Stansted to Liverpool St and then a night bus from there to Dalston. You can prebook your National Express tickets here:

https://beta.nationalexpress.com/en

For the night bus, you must have an Oyster card, contactless bank card, or a device with Apple or Android pay enabled. Cash is no longer accepted on London buses.

Are you staying long? That isn't the most salubrious of areas.

I very much like the PI Hackney. As mentioned, the 242 or 48 (if it's still running by the time you reach Liverpool Street) will take you to a stop a minute's walk from the hotel: …tfl.gov.uk/bus-route-maps/liverpool-street-… and …tfl.gov.uk/bus-route-maps/dalston-081114.pdf Alight at stop K in Dalston Lane and you'll see the hotel straight ahead on the left.

Having said that, depending on your destination you may find the Overground extremely useful. You'll see Dalston Junction station across the road from stop K; Dalston Kingsland station is less than five minutes' walk along the Kingsland Road but is usually much busier, with a small ticket hall and narrowish stairs to and from the platforms.

I don't know when you were last in Dalston, but along with Kingsland Road, Hoxton, Shoreditch and surrounding areas have become very desirable, trendy places with house prices to match

You can still get off at Tottenham Hale, but catch the 76 bus to Dalston Junction. It will be quicker than back tracking from Liverpool Street.
