storm city - urgent, calling all locals and hoteliers!!

heard on the grapevine, from my good friend Mrs Moppit, that there is a meeting next week at The Old Bridge House pub on Lytham Rdwith storm city developers, local and national press - storm city have allegedly given the council a deadline for a decision or they're going to withdraw their plans!!

Ther are petition forms aavilable and the submitter is ian from the international hotel on pleasant st. info also from Blackpool Combined association or Coliseum Traders Association.

I'm off to email alan cavill at the council. Dont want to lpublicly list his email addy but its the usual set email address for gov depts - a large part of this is in his hands.

I just PRAY that the response wont be that they have to wait to see if they get the go ahead for lottery funding for the peoples playground. That will be at least next year ...

now think what you would rather have ...storm city, up and running by 2010 or a long drawn out appliacation for lottery funding.

MRS B, CLLR BATE sent me the info when i complaned that he was ruining blackpool chance of the casino. He also told me that a snow dome was rejected along with a paramount style film atraction theme park. As long as pleasure beach are narrow minded we will not attract other entertainment complex's. I only hope the council are kicked out and new blood is giving it's chance

I'm very concerned about the peoples playground funding,as gordon brown is intent on steaming into that pocket of money for the olympics.

We wont know until sept if the bid for that is successsful

this three month period whihc storm city have with the council will be the truth or dare of it! The council will hopefully be wary fo being bitten twice and ebstablish that the finance is there in the first instance.

Mind you, this consulation could be another stab at lip service, as long as the hoi polloi at teh town hall are still getting their salaries, they probably couldnt care less, as long as they SEEN to be doing something.actually

one of these days i'll get to finish a post without the phone ringing, kids shouting etc and not put odd words such as 'actually' at the end of a sentence.

I seem to remember the Pleasure Beach rejecting some kind of approach from one of the big US operators. Could well have been Disney or even Six Flags.

Would be a terrible shame if Pleasure Beach was ever to fall into "private" or big-wig corporate hands.

Not sure Amanda Thompson has the same clout with the counci as her old man had.

I wonder how much stronger a case would have been put forward for Blackpool and the Casino if the late, and extremely great Geoffrey Thompson was still with us.
