Nursing Home or Hotel

Had afternoon tea at The Borrowdale on friday by the log fire in the lounge just under £10 for 2 people nice ginger cake shortbread biscuits and fresh baked scones - superb just as I remember it!

But...... since my last visit 8 years ago it was noticible lots of wheelchairs most residents in the 70 / 80 age group gave the atmosphere of a nursing home and not the first class hotel I remember. Can anybody confirm this, or did I just pick the wrong day to visit.

People who are in the70/80 age group and are in wheelchairs have as much right as you (whatever your age) to be in the Hotel. Some day you might reach that age group and be in a wheel chair and be grateful of the attention given by the Hotel personnel. My wife and I have stayed at the hotel and she was in a wheelchair age 55. Get a life if that is all you have to complain about and consider people who may not have the mobility you may have.

Mariucia, sounds like you not only picked the wrong day to visit the Borrowdale, but you picked the wrong day to post your question!

I don't see anything in the OP to suggest otherwise. The comment was about the apparent changes since a visit 8 years previous. Hotels do change the demographic that they wish to appeal to. Personally, if I had stayed at what I considered a 'first class hotel' and returned to find it full of 20 somethings swilling lager I would have been asking similar questions.
