Heversham Stay

Hi Guys,

We're staying in a cottage in Heversham at the end of April; can anyone recommend any pubs/restaurants in the local area which are worth a visit?

The Blue Bell, in Heversham itself, doesn't appear to have very good reviews so we'll probably give food a miss here...is it still worth a couple of drinks?

Try the Strickland Arms on the road into Sizergh Castle - good food and good beer. Whilst not a pub or restaurant, the chippy at Arnside is an institution locally. The New Inn in Yealand Conyers is good too. Can't speak from personal experience but I've heard good things about No 17 Restaurant in Milnthorpe.

That's wonderful thanks

Any suggestions for a decent carvery on the Sunday (hoping it'll be too warm for one but this is England!)

You can get a decent sunday carvery lunch at the Crooklands Hotel a couple of miles from Heversham, turn up Woodhouse lane by the church, continue until the main road, take a left and it will bring you out at the hotel. For other meals, as already mentioned the no. 17 restaurant in Milnthorpe is good, others you could consider for a nice meal nearby are the Kingfisher at Sandside, Strickland Arms, Lyth Valley Hotel and the Wheatsheaf at Beetham. I would personally avoid the Bluebell and pubs in Milnthorpe. There is a nice pub at Arnside called the Albion with decent food although space is limited inside. The Kings Arms, Hale, just past Beetham on the A6 is a good friendly pub also serving decent food.

Thanks for the replies; we'll look out for them on the weekend we go...hopefully it'll be too nice to sit inside and eat carvery!
