Bus between Windermere and Cartmel

My girlfriend and I are travelling by train to Windermere in July/August. We've heard Cartmel has a little shop that makes very nice treacle puddings. We would both like to visit it. Does anyone know if a bus travels regularly between Windermere and Cartmel? Or is there some other convenient way to get there?

I don't think there's an easy option for this as they're quite far apart and not directly linked, Cartmel being at the far south of Cumbria near Morecambe bay. The only way seems to be to take the bus(555)/train to Kendal, then take a bus to Grange over Sands (x35) followed by another bus to Cartmel (532). The journey could take from 1h30 to just over 2 hours depending on when you go. See www.transportdirect.info for a journey planner. The railway station for Cark and Cartmel is actually quite a long way from Cartmel, so isn't an easy option.

You can however buy the Puddings and sauce from the Cartmel Village shop at lots of other locations.

Thanks for the info. We may have to make do with keeping an eye out for those Cartmel Village shops.

Sorry- didn't mean that there were other branches of Cartmel Village shop, but that their product is quite widely distributed through other shops - the Booths store by the station in Windermere will probably stock their puddings.

Fairly sure you can get Cartmel Sticky Toffee pudding at Booths supermarket adjacent to Windermere Station.

If you have a sweet tooth and are visiting Grasmere you should try the Grasmere Gingerbread. see:
