old sealink, BCIF services to channel islands

can anybody remember back in the 1980's what times the old sealink ferries (earl william, earl granville etc) and the british channel island ferry (corbiere) used to depart portsmouth for channel islands? and how long the typical crossing time was and did they stop at jersey first before going on to guernsey or was it the other way round

They often changed which way they travelled, dependent on the tides as Jersey harbour couldn't always be accessed.

I remember leaving Guernsey (in the late 1980's) about 6pm, down to Jersey, then overnight arriving Portsmouth 6am. I seem to remember another trip in the early 80's when we went direct to Porstmouth and then got on a boat train up to London, on that occasion I think it took something around 4 hours. We also did overnights and daytime trips.

One point of interest,i'm sure I remember my Dad telling me about the steam ships from the 1950's which could do the crossing as fast as 2 hours, something the fast cats can just about match today, as long as the waves aren't too high!
