Where to go for lunch?

We are visiting in April and will be going to Winchcombe, Broadway, Stow on the Wold, Chipping Camden and Moreton in Marsh. Where would be a good place for lunch? Looking for good food, not gourmet or expensive, nice atmosphere, possibly outside (rooftop?) depending on the weather. Also a suggestion for a really old historic type pub in any of those towns as well. Thanks!

Winchcombe - http://www.5northstreetrestaurant.co.uk or try a counrty pub further out on the road to Gretton called the Royal Oak with views over the valley and the steam railway. You may be lucky and see a locomotive go by.

Stow on the Wold - try a pub - The Old Butchers or The Kings Arms

Fancy something a bit different on route but in the country, try the Hollow Bottom at Guiting Power (near Stow) - run by the local horse trainer and does unusual food incl (depending on availability) Crocodile, Kangaroo and Kudo. For Afternoon Tea at a country House try Lower Slaughter Manor (near Stow). For Chipping Camden, consider The Cotswold House Hotel which has a nice Brasserie.

The UK is going through a cold snap at the moment, temperatures at freezing with snow ont he ground due to continue into early April, so bring a sweater! Also, with pubs / restaurants - book ahead especially at Friday / Sat / Sunday lunchtimes.

In Chipping Campden, you could try either the Eight Bells or the Lygon Arms - the latter is generous with its portion sizes, or at least it is in the evening. Alternatively, and near to Stow-on-the-Wold, you might try either the Horse and Groom at Upper Oddington, or the Kings Head Inn at Bledington, where a brook flows through the village green on which the pub is located.

Thank you for the great suggestions! Hopefully it'll warm up by the time we go but we're dealing with the same weather here in Boston at the moment.

In Broadway there is a lovely deli in the back of a grocery, and some places to eat outside across the street.

The Ebrington Arms, 3 miles from Chipping Campden, is lovely - good food and a beautiful pub in a picturesque small village. Hope the weather warms up for you!
