Brighton 20 - 22 April 2007 - Please Help!!

Hi everyone,

Please help!!

I am best man and considering bringing 15 of us to Brighton for a weekend.

We are not looking to spend any more than £100 for accom and we are a varied group. Ideally looking for a decent restaurant in town, not too posh and then to some good bars and maybe to some clubs.

Any help and suggestions would be really appreciated.

Cheers

Branna, I'd recommend the Quality Hotel in West Street for this kind of doo (stag?!) the Hotel caters for large groups (usually stags & hens). Dont expect the Ritz, quiet or sedate tho! good location for doing pubs, clubs and bars on West Street and down on the beach, as for eats, head to Preston Street, 10min walk from the Hotel, for a huge variety of affordable restaurants of every type of food you care to mention.

I've had a look at the Quality, and they have availability for around £75 a night for twin rooms (you might get 4 to a room, making it even cheaper).

as for specific clubs n pubs/bars's, what age group? cheesy disco or serious clubbers?

To be honest, we are not going to be your typical 'stag' party.

Most of us are looking to hit some good bars on a steady drinking session. Then find a decent place to eat at night, then back to some more bars, and probably a few will end up looking for some good nightclubs.

Branna, have a look at this link for the clubs/bars in town.

Re Hotel; ok i get your drift, i'm assuming you mean £100 a room, not per person? the potential problem wioth that sized group is that most small hotels will assume stagg, and not want an all male group boooking, thats why i mentioned the Quality Hotel. I would still stick to one of the larger chain hotels if you can get somewhere for the dates you want, have a look at the Holiday Inn, The Royal Albion & The Queens, all on the seafront; otherwise consider the the Premier Travel Inn on North Street (City Centre) rooms there start at £65 at weekends, and an equally great locatrion for nightlife.

Summary of my personal fav bars:

Browns Bar, Esca, Pasha, Heist, Koba, Pitcher & Piano.

Pubs: Freemasons, Lion & Lobster

Clubs: Karma & Rehab at the Marina

Restaurants: a fun place for you could be the Plaza on the seafront, caters for groups, restaurant, bar, club all-in-one. see http://www.plaza-brighton.co.uk/

otherwise stick to an Italian, there are a plethora of these in brighton, one every 100yards; also consider Browns (next door to the Bar - Ship Street is a long standing favourite. browns-restaurants.com/location_pg/loc_brt.h…

doubtless you've heard of Momma Cherries (featured on Gordon Ramsay's C4 prog)? give it go..if you can get in, you'll need to pre-book well in advance.http://www.mommacherri.co.uk/

If youre not fussed stick to Preston Street, for lots of choices.

Hi Bojangles,

Still struggling for a hotel at the moment.

Can't seem to find one that has a decent review!!

The one's that do are all booked.

Tried all the ones you suggested. Quality is all booked, so is The Queens, and also the Premier Travel Inn.

I will keep plugging away.

Cheers

how about the Ramada Jarvis, or the Old Ship? if still no joy, maybe try and enquire via the official tourist office.

here's a list of all hotels/BnBs in the City, and you can book online.

Hi Bojangles,

I have tried both of them and still no luck.

A lot of places just are not big enough for 10 twin rooms!!

I have also visited the two links you sent me.

We found one hotel, Beach Hotel?

Hasn't got the best reviews, but might be only choice we have.

If you hear of any others, please let me know.

Thanks again for all your help.

Brenna

Have you tried the Premier Travel Inn ? Good location, basic but clean and cheap.

Branna, I know of the Beach Hotel (aka West beach Hotel) (as i put a group of mates up there a few yrs back) well its not the Ritz!!.....but its a great location.

Other places worth a try (again not brilliant reviews, but i think thats got to be less of a priority now) are the Kings Hotel, Best Western Brighton Hotel, and also the Belgrave, these are all large-ish seafront hotels in the centre.

There is Travelodge but its a little way out of the centre, but not that far, opposite Preston Park actually on the A23, this would mean taxi's into and out, which will be ave £10-15max, so thats an option to consider.
