With Young Kids in Summer

Hi all,

We've booked a family friendly apartment in Brighton for a week at the end of July. We're in town to visit family and friends, but I would love any ideas for what to do with the kids. They will be 1 & 4. We're near a playground and the pier.

Any especially kid friendly restaurants? Indoor activities for a rain day?

My husband and I were in Brighton years ago before we had kids. So looking forward to going back!

Thanks!

The Toy Museum or the Sea Life Centre spring to mind for the elder one.

Kid-friendly restaurants aren't a problem to find in Brighton and Hove, as most of them are. But special mention to Giraffe, Wagamama, Food for Friends (vegetarian), Terre a Terre (superb vegetarian), Chili Pickle (Indian), Jamie's Italian, Bill's, Ginger Dog (Brighton), and the Ginger Pig (Hove) - both the Dog and the Pig have £6 children's menus.

Things to do: the Sea Life Centre, St. Ann's Well Gardens (playground), Peter Pan's Playground (which has a stop on the Volks Electric Railway, another fun thing to do), Brighton Pier, the Toy Museum, and the Booth Museum, to name a few.

Will you have access to a car during your stay? If so, you could visit Drusillas Park.

Or Middle Farm in Firle.

A real favourite with the children is Booth Museum Of Natural History, also The Painting Pottery Cafe, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, Yellowave bouldering wall, Hove Park Railway and there are plenty of child friendly places to eat. If you fancy venturing out of Brighton slightly then Monkey Bizness, Lewes Castle, Spring Barn Park, Bentley Wildfowl and Motor Museum and Eastbourne Miniature Railway are all good.
