Castle Hill & Lynton in Sept.

Hey y'all!

Staying at the excellent Castle Hill end Sept. for the 1st. time. Is that the end of the season for attractions, restaurants etc? Any sightseeing tips - hear the 21 mile drive is good? Booked in at the Lynton Cottage for my birthday, but can't find it on T.A? Any knowledge?

Thanks!

Although the summer season is the busiest here in North Devon things will still be open and available in early September.

The review for Lynton Cottage Hotel are here on TA:

There is loads to do around 'Little Switzerland', including:

The Valley of the Rocks

Watersmeet

Heddons Mouth and Valley (good food at the Hunter's Inn, as well)

Simonsbath

Arlington Court

Porlock

Woody Bay

End September should be a nice time to go. A little more peaceful but still good weather.

The double decker bus 300 travels over the coastal moorland, Exmoor Safaris run all year if you want to see the secret moorland places without driving. Dunster Castle & village.

If you want to relax in the evening keep an eye on what is on at the little jewel of Lynton Cinema. The exact film dates are given a week or so in advance or you can ring them. They have the latest releases and very comfy. www.lyntoncinema.co.uk

Most things run to the end of October. Even then there are still things to do.

Sorry, I didn't actually mean 'early' I meant 'late'!

Thank you, sounds encouraging. Found the Lynton Cottage thanks to your link Rio, but reviews are not favourable and think we could probably do better. The bus sounds great fun too, thank you Sue. Are really looking forward to an English holiday, not least the Castle Hill. Any more nuggets of secret information, please do share.

I took a look at the first 20 reviews, they go back to May 2011 and they are almost all good, four aren't brilliant, but they aren't scathing in their description of their stay there. 16 out of 20 would be plenty good enough for me but I appreciate we are all different.

The Rising Sun in Lynmouth is good (although pricey) for food, as well, boydel
