best place to stay in newquay/surrounding area with family

I'm after ideas on where to stay in newquay or thereabouts with a baby and 3 year old. We've looked at the obvious caravan parks and all have mixed reviews any recommendations?? We are planning on going end of may.

Many thanks

Hi there

it's on the opposite coast, about a 16 mile drive from Newquay but Pentewan Sands between St Austell and Mevagissey ticks all the boxes for kids. It has it's own, large sandy beach, various kids clubs and the like, pools, evening entertainment for the adults with baby sitting facilities if required, and loads more. I haven't stayed there for several years but neighbours of ours go twice every year with their kids and wouldn't go anywhere else.

Take a look at Crantock, 5 miles from Newquay but completely different in atmosphere. Family friendly and with some fantastic accommodation including 5* rated cottages.

There are some apartments on the Pentire side of Fistral Beach that look right over the beach.

You have not said what your budget is ? But the price does vary depending on the time of year . May if your out of the school holidays may be good price wise.

Bay Retreat Villas at St Merryn are pretty good. Sleep up to 6 people and in great loacation for Padstow etc. Holibags is currently offering 7 Nights Stay for £219 or 4 night stay for 179.

@ Browne,

The problem with judging reviews for holiday and caravan parks is that these often appeal to a specific audience, and that quite often, people book a perfectly decent park, don't like what the park offers (and / or the audience!), and give it a bad review. Unfair on the park, and more a reflection on their own poor decision making than anything else.

My advice, for what it is worth, would be to look at any less than positive reviews and see what the traveller's profile is. Often very telling!

That is not to say of course that there aren't any bad caravan or holiday parks, as sadly there are of course a few.

This site is very popular in Newquay & is always extremely busy. Not far from beaches & town. There is also a regular buss service if you do not want to drive.
