Most sheltered beach in Cornwall?!

Hello!!!

Unfortunately we seem to have gotten a bad weather week for our week long holiday in Cornwall!! We are both beach lovers and so far have visited st Ives, porthminister, perranporth, porthcurno, sennen, st Agnes and maybe one or two more u can't remember! Trying to make a plan for the next couple of days. Tomorrow looks about the best chance of a non rainy day but winds are supposed to be high. Which beaches do u reckon would be the most sheltered. Just for walking etc so we won't be blown away altogether. Ps, we are staying between Falmouth and Truro, but obviously we have a car...!!

Hello! Now that's a tough one! Perhaps the Camel estuary? Fabulous beaches but not facing onto the open sea - and you can spend a bit of time exploring Padstow.

Oh that might be an option as my other half really wants to see Tintagel castle too so we could make a day of it on the west coast... That said we went to visit st micheals mount today but it was almost invisible in the fog, Tintagel could be similar if it ends up like today!!!! Thanks a lot for reply xx

With the winds coming from the west today beaches around Padstow should be a bit sheltered and if you come to Tintagel the small beach under the castle will also be reasonably sheltered although it is mainly shingle. Low water is about 3 PM today.

The forecast gives a 20% chance of rain today here in Tintagel and at the moment it is clear.

There is another beach in Tintagel called Bosinney beach which will be sheltered but is a bit of a climb but well worth it. It is popular with surfers and is completely unspoiled. It is just outside Tintagel on the road to Boscastle. Park by the radio mast.

The sun is now out here and a lovely blue sky!

Still a bit drafty though!

We've had a super day!!

Started off driving to Tintagel, blue skies all by the coast, toured the castle ruins; next onto Port Isaac, amazing (where filming is taking place at the moment), and then Watergate Bay for a couple of hours, which was just stunning! Weather was really sunny and found a few sheltered spots to bask in!

Thanks for the advice, it made our day. Fingers crossed for more sunshine tomorrow, we might head back to watergate bay again, if not more shopping in Truro!

Cheers xx

Yesterday proved the old saying 'Rain before seven, fine by eleven'

It was a lovely afternoon and evening.

Hope it is the same today as it is drizzling now at 0625!!!

Glad you had a good day.
