Chester and/or Conwy

We are taking a train from Oxford to Chester and/or Conwy in September. We have 2 nights. We could either spend the afternoon in Chester and go to Conwy for 2 nights or spend a night in Chester and go to Conwy the next morning for a night.

Which would be the better option?

It really is a personal choice, suggest go for the night in each ?

If you are toying with visiting the two then as Mrs Puddle says a night in each is the answer. Chester is most certainly worth 2 nights in itself and whilst Conwy is much smaller the surrounding area makes a stay there well worth while too. You really neeed longer in the Chester/North Wales area to do it justice.

Chester is very pretty and has great history, as well as shopping, bars etc. Conwy is stunning, but is much quieter and with less to do.

Conwy is only about an hour from Chester by train. So you could stay in Chester, but go for a day trip to Conwy.

I would say though, either would be lovely for 2 nights so might even be worth planning 2 seperate visits.

One night in each, both are excellent for day trips.
